  1. Verse 1

nāme mantra mahādhīra sakale aśānta bhukti mukti siddhi kāmīra indriya adānta

name mantra mahadhira sakale asanta bhukti mukti siddhi kamira indriya adanta

    नामे मन्त्र महाधीर सकले अशान्त भुक्ति मुक्ति सिद्धि कामीर इन्द्रिय अदान्त

In name only they were great sober and unaffected men, They were all unpeaceful. Desiring liberation, sense gratification or mystic powers, all had uncontrolled senses.

  2. Verse 2

adānta indriya nahe yoga-bale vaśa koto muni yogi saba hoyeche vivaśa

adanta indriya nahe yoga-bale vasa koto muni yogi saba hoyeche vivasa

    अदान्त इन्द्रिय नहे योगबले वश कोतो मुनि योगि सब होयेछे विवश

The uncontrolled senses don't answer to the potency of yoga. How many yogis and munis there were, and always the senses remained independent.

  3. Verse 3

hṛṣīkeśa sevā vinā hṛṣīka damana karamera phera saba bhuñjāya śamana

hrsikesa seva vina hrsika damana karamera phera saba bhunjaya samana

    हृषीकेश सेवा विना हृषीक दमन करमेर फेर सब भुञ्जाय शमन

Without service of the master of the senses (Hrsikesa), there can be no sense control. They all return to material activities after a short term of peace.

  4. Verse 4

yogete indriya saṁyama kabhu nāhi hoy āgama purāṇe tāhā bhuri bhuri koy

yogete indriya samyama kabhu nahi hoy agama purane taha bhuri bhuri koy

    योगेते इन्द्रिय संयम कभु नाहि होय आगम पुराणे ताहा भुरि भुरि कोय

By the process of yoga, no one ever attains sense control. This is explained extensively in the Vedas and Puranas.
