  1. Verse 1

ṛtu pati rādhā mādhava saṅga vividha vilāsa, hori rasa raṅgita ābire aruṇa śyāma aṅga

rtu pati radha madhava sanga vividha vilasa, hori rasa rangita abire aruna syama anga

    ऋतु पति राधा माधव सङ्ग विविध विलास, होरि रस रङ्गित आबिरे अरुण श्याम अङ्ग

Radha and Madhava play different rasika pastimes in the king of seasons (spring), like Holi. Thus Syama's body is reddened by abira powder.

  2. Verse 2

aruṇita śyāma, kalevara darapaṇe, rāiko pratibimba lāgi bharamahi āna, ramaṇī mane māniye māninī bhelo virāgi

arunita syama, kalevara darapane, raiko pratibimba lagi bharamahi ana, ramani mane maniye manini bhelo viragi

    अरुणित श्याम, कलेवर दरपणे, राइको प्रतिबिम्ब लागि भरमहि आन, रमणी मने मानिये मानिनी भेलो विरागि

Rai saw Her own reflection in Syama's reddened mirror-like body and mistook this for another woman. Thus She became angry with Syama and lost interest in Him.

  3. Verse 3

rasika sunāgara, rāiko māna heri, minati koroto koro-joṛi pītāmbara gole, sādha-i padatale, rāi roholo mukha mori

rasika sunagara, raiko mana heri, minati koroto koro-jori pitambara gole, sadha-i padatale, rai roholo mukha mori

    रसिक सुनागर, राइको मान हेरि, मिनति कोरोतो कोरोजोऋइ पीताम्बर गोले, साधै पदतले, राइ रोहोलो मुख मोरि

Seeing Rai's pique, Rasika Sunagara (the relishing great lover Krsna) prayed to Her with folded hands. Pitambara thus humbly fell at Her feet, but Rai turned Her head away from Him.

  4. Verse 4

priya sahacari joto, koto je bujhāyato, sukha soie kāhe viporīta dvija haridāsa, kohoto kāhe rokhasi, premaki aichana rīta

priya sahacari joto, koto je bujhayato, sukha soie kahe viporita dvija haridasa, kohoto kahe rokhasi, premaki aichana rita

    प्रिय सहचरि जोतो, कोतो जे बुझायतो, सुख सोइए काहे विपोरीत द्विज हरिदास, कोहोतो काहे रोखसि, प्रेमकि ऐछन रीत

No matter how much the priya sakhis try to make Rai understand what had happened - They came for happiness, but They received just the opposite. Dvija Haridas says: "Pique is a part of the ways of love.”
